Hypnotherapy for Ketamine addiction

I’ll be upfront here, hypnotherapy for Ketamine addiction is only part of the answer.

It’s not the silver bullet.

Just like with any addiction - cocaine, alcohol, gambling - you YOU have to decide that this is your time to end this.

No one else. You.

And I’m here to believe in you all the way as part of your Ketamine addiction treatment plan to recovery.

Let’s look at the facts. Not that you don’t know them already you probably do, but me writing about them boosts my Google ranking and helps you find me.

What does Ketamine do?

Ketamine is known as a ‘dissociative anaesthetic’.

Medically it’s used for pain management and as an anaesthetic.

Recreationally users love it’s euphoric, dream-like, detached and relaxed feeling. And these trips can last for a couple of hours.

It’s this feeling you’ve created that you become addicted to.

Long-term effects of Ketamine use.

Ketamine plays havoc with your mind and body.

In your body Ketamine can:

. increase your heart rate and blood pressure. It can make you confused, agitated, delirious and disconnected from reality
. make you feel sick
. damage to your short- and long-term memory
. because of the body’s loss of feelings, paralysis of the muscles and the mind’s loss of touch with reality, you can be left vulnerable to hurting yourself or being hurt by others
. cause serious bladder problems, with the urgent and frequent need to pee. This can be very painful and the pee can be blood-stained. Although stopping using ketamine can help, sometimes the damage can be so serious that the bladder needs surgical repair or even removal.
. damage the urinary tract, from the kidneys down to the bladder, can also be affected and incontinence (uncontrolled peeing) may also develop intense abdominal pain, sometimes called ‘K cramps’
. damage your liver, especially if you’ve been a long-time user. The liver is vital: it cleans your blood and removes toxins.

Ketamine plays with your mind too.

The mental health risks are as follows:

. flashbacks, memory loss and problems with concentration
. depression and, some times, psychotic symptoms like hallucinations
. making existing mental health problems worse.

The benefits of hypnosis

Hypnotherapy for Ketamine addiction can help you speed up the process of ditching ketamine. Here’s some of the ways hypnotherapy makes a difference.

It doesn’t put any blame on you. Hypnosis and hypnotherapy is a way of you being calm. Changing the message that you’re telling yourself and not being bothered by outside influences. It’s all about you having a conversation with yourself. Coming to peace with yourself. It’s NOT a judgement on you by anyone.

It puts the focus on positive change. You can feel good in a ‘natural way’. Just by relaxing your subconscious and telling yourself you’re good enough already. You can walk away from this, feel good about yourself and enjoy the process of change.

It can feel you’re gaining control. Addiction takes you to many places - helplessness, low self-esteem, a belief that their is only a life of drugs. Not true. You can learn to stay no. Not be bothered by others taking Ketamine. Realise that it’s their journey. Nothing NOTHING to do with you. Accept that the thought of your addicted life happened, but you understand it’s in the past and getting further and further away by the day.

It can look at your addiction and its underlying causes. You may be taking Ketamine to escape a past memory, or trauma. You may have low self-esteem. These are the sort of things hypnotherapy can look at so they mean way less to you. You have fewer and fewer reasons to use.

It boosts other forms of intervention. Hypnotherapy for Ketamine addiction is a great boost to confidence. It can give you the strength to ask for more help. Believe in the entire process of leaving ketamine behind. Speak out confidently and honestly at support meetings.

Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy what’s the difference?

Hypnosis is a state of deep calm and relaxation. Hypnotherapy is using this relaxed state to tell yourself good things about yourself.

To heal.

In effect you’ve lowered the barriers to your subconscious, so you can re-wire your thinking. Tell yourself good things about yourself at the deepest level.

What is psychotherapy?
To answer what is psychotherapy? I’ll start by describing what exactly the words mean. To break it down the word ‘psycho’ comes from the Greek for “soul” or “mind”. And ‘therapy’ means “healing." Also from a Greek word. So what we’re talking about is a healing of your thinking. A coming to terms with why […]
