Special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) can affect a child or young person's ability to learn.
And Hypnotherapy for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is all about helping with a child’s behaviour, ability to socialise (for example they can struggle to make friends) and educational development, for example because they have dyslexia, or struggle to develop their ability to understand things.
For SEN and SEND.
While “SEN” refers to Special Educational Needs, “SEND” stands for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. This covers both learning problems and the challenges of disabilities and how both affect a child’s ability to learn. I cover both.
How does hypnotherapy help?
To be clear I’m a hypnotherapist - my full title is Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist - and using hypnotherapy for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is a support tool.
I can help with the associated anxieties, stresses, and phobias that SEND can bring, and teach/coach relaxation and self-confidence.
In other words I help children come to terms with SEND. Understand it, not think it’s an excuse not reach their maximum potential.
More specifically how hypnotherapy works.
With hypnotherapy for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) I can address:
Emotional and Behavioural Challenges. This helps children with SEND manage difficult emotions, reduce anxiety and stress, and develop coping mechanisms for challenging situations.
Boost Confidence and Self-Esteem. I look to focus on a child’s skill set. Get them to believe they can be confident and that they are capable.
It’s not always easy with SEND to understand this, but hypnotherapy encourages relaxation and calm especially if a child faces sensory overload, or easily becomes anxious.
Children with SEND often need help with communication and their social skills. They can feel like outsiders, alone, or frustrated that others don’t understand them.
And it’s not just for the child. It can take it out of the parent. It can feel like you never get a break. Hypnotherapy can also benefit parents by providing them with tools and strategies to better support their child's needs. And not feel exasperated.
Is hypnotherapy recognised by the NHS?
Simple answer, yes.
What exactly is Hypnotherapy?
You might also hear it called hypnotic suggestion.
Hypnotherapy for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) uses hypnosis to
help children relax, focus and accept new messages to change their thoughts feelings and
behaviours for the better.
Basically to give a child belief in themselves.
We’re looking to boost child’s confidence, dial down the stresses and anxieties, and the
pain in some disabilities.
What would a typical hypnotherapy session look like?
Working with you child I’m looking to create a deeply relaxed state. In this state it’s easier
for me to suggest - and your child to accept - new messages that help them change their
thoughts feeling and behaviours for the better.
Is hypnotherapy recognised by the scientific community?
Yes definitely. It’s seen as an effective healing tool. Take a look here.
