Hypnotherapy for happiness

Hypnotherapy for happiness. How does that work? Just by being calm. No I’m not being trite. Here’s a slightly longer explanation.

Can hypnotherapy make you happier?

Hypnotherapy for happiness helps by looking at what makes you unhappy. Taking away what’s blocking your chances of happiness.

What does this mean? That when you’re calm you can deal with your stress, anxiety, self-esteem, pressure and dial them down. And as you re-train your brain you can get to. Point where you simply let everything pass you by.

When all your challenges carry less meaning it’s easier to see the funny side of things - even think about being happy.

In effect, you give yourself permission to stop being miserable.

How can hypnotherapy help you emotionally?

With hypnotherapy for happiness we can look at your low self-esteem, your negative view of yourself. The feelings of worthlessness.

The following are your signs:

. You’re critical of yourself. You berate yourself all the time.
. You ignore your positive qualities. And compliments. You don’t think you’re good enough or deserve praise.
. Comparing yourself negatively to others. Comparison is the thief joy.
. Avoiding challenges. You think you’ll fail - even before you start.
. Having difficulty making friends. You don’t believe people will want to be with you.
. Feeling sad, depressed, anxious, ashamed, angry, or worthless. You’re a stream of negative emotions.
. Having low motivation. You can’t be bothered. You tell yourself, “What’s the point?”
. Struggling to cope with difficulties. Every little mole hill feels like a mountain and you tell yourself thoughts like, “Just my luck”.

With hypnotherapy for happiness you’re more able to see that you are NOT your thoughts.

You can let go of all of the above.

And then what’s left? A calmer, more positive version of you. It’s now easier to see the humour in situations, to be self-depreciating (that’s confidence), make others laugh (a dopamine release in itself).

Hypnotherapy for happiness: easing anxiety.

Anxiety is a feeling. It’s a sense of unease, such as worry or fear. It can be mild or severe.

Basically it’s you working against yourself.

With hypnotherapy for happiness you learn to see anxiety for what it is: a thought you don’t want.

So during a hypnosis session, you relax and learn to let go. This way you can explore some of the deeper issues that trouble your thoughts like a repressed memory (such as abuse), or learn a new habit like a desire for a healthy habit for weight loss.
And with this sense of calm you can feel like your body is working for you, not against you. This way you can deal with:
. Feelings of impending doom
. Shortness of breath
. A racing heart rate
. Tension in your muscles
. Irritability
. A nervous stomach.

Yet again it becomes easier to find a level of happiness when you take away the above.

Hypnotherapy for happiness by improving sleep

When you can’t sleep you’re more likely to be out of sorts.

Typically you’re more likely to have an injury, or make bad decisions.

You also put your body through the wringer. Sleep deficiency is linked to chronic health problems, such as heart disease, kidney disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, strokes, obesity and the anathema of happiness: depression.

Using hypnotherapy you can get a better night’s sleep and turn things around. And, as you can imagine, in this a more relaxed and refreshed state. You’re better placed to find the joy in things.

Boosting confidence.

When you’re calm through hypnotherapy it’s easier to do anything:

. Ask someone out on a date
. Speak in public
. Do something you’ve never done before
. Join in with conversations, never feel on the edge
. Ask for a pay rise.

And if it goes wrong? So what? You have learnings. You lose nothing.

Building resilience.

This feeds straight into happiness. How? When we create a sense of calm we can learn the ability to cope with adversity and keep a positive outlook. For example what you and me could work on could be:

. Building relationships with friends and family for support.

. Practicing self-care: Take care of your physical health and engage in activities you enjoy.

. Developing self-awareness: Practice acceptance, mindfulness, and being more assertive.

. Learning from the past: Reflect on your experiences and use them to help you grow. We re-frame what you may call defeats, or losses, as learnings. You’re always learning always moving forward. Never stuck.

. Developing problem-solving skills: Learn how to calmly make decisions and take action, even when it feels difficult.

. Practicing stress management: Learn techniques to help you cope with mental stressors.

. Maintaining perspective: staying hopeful and maintaining a positive outlook.

. Embracing change: Being open to new experiences and adjusting to change when needed. In fact enjoy change and chase it down. Become comfortable being uncomfortable. Alway learning new things.

Recognising your aging

As we age, our priorities and desires often shift towards more intangible aspects of life. Many older adults place a higher value on relationships, contentment, and peace of mind over material success or physical achievements.

The pursuit of your happiness and fulfilment may focus more on the quality of connections with family and friends, health and well-being, and the enjoyment of life's simpler pleasures.

There's often a greater appreciation for the present moment and a desire for meaningful experiences rather than the accumulation of possessions or status.

Additionally, legacy, the desire to leave a positive impact on others and the world, becomes more important, as does the search for a sense of purpose and completion in one's life narrative.

Hypnotherapy for happiness can help get to this state of contentment.

Grumpy v momento mori

What Im saying here is don’t waste time. End the negative feelings (grumpy) now.

This is what memento more is all about. Memento mori quite literally means "remember that you have to die” in Latin.

That’s a high falutin’ way of saying don’t fanny about, or waste time, crack on.

We’re using hypnotherapy for happiness to end your procrastination.

To live for the present and seize the day. I want you to live with purpose and intention, enjoy life and the people around you to the fullest.

It’s part of the philosophy of Stoicism. Without getting too high brow, or away from your unhappiness, it’s main proponent was Marcus Aurelius - he’s played by Richard Harris in Gladiator and Gladiator 2

How does hypnotherapy work?

Hypnotherapy ‘lands’ a positive message at a subconscious level.

What we’re doing is bypassing the busyness of the conscious mind and getting to the root of things in. Deeply relaxing way.

On the whole, using hypnosis this way, is a fast-acting process that produces results and can mean less sessions - and lower costs.

Hypnotherapy or counselling?

This is an endless, circuitous discussion. All ‘talking therapies’ are about dialling down your stresses and anxieties. How you go about it depends on what you find most comfortable. EFT? NLP? Counselling? Your choice. My title is a Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist (CBH), so that’s what I talk about. On the whole CBH is a solution-based therapy. The idea is to give you the coping skills and resilience to get on as quick as possible. Crack on here and now.

How many hypnotherapy sessions do I need?

Always hard too say. Usually as many as it takes to dial down your negative emotions. Most research finds that CBT and hypnotherapy is fast acting and you can move on quickly.

My story. I was unhappy. And I didn’t realise it.

I ate and drank myself to over 20 stone. It was a habit I formed. A way of thinking that I thought was the ‘norm’.

It took time but I walked away from this. It dawned on me I was wasting time (my life).

I’ve been there. And now I look forward. It doesn’t mean the temptations not there. It’s just that I have stronger calming thoughts.
